After storming the Indian market with the launch of Mi4, the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi once again to make its hold more “behtar” in India, launched the mini version of Mi4, The Mi4i. Xiaomi has been to mimic apple’s strategy, in the similar way as apple launched the iPhone 5C. Already one crore unit has been sold worldwide, “aaiye dekhe” what it has to offer for a price of Rs. 12999/-.

The phone has a uni-body design and looks simple yet elegant. The battery on the device is not removable. It will be available in Black, White, Orange, Light Blue, and Pink colors. The device comes with a 5 inch capacitive display that has a unique sunlight display which helps the phone to lighten up as soon as you are outdoors.

For such a price tag the phone has solid specs. It has a 1.1 ghz of processor and 2GB ram module. The phone doesn’t shutter even when we try to run multiple apps. The phone does get hot when used for high end games. There were no issues with call drops and speaker produces decent sound.

The Mi4i has a 13MP rear camera and 5MP from camera, both the camera performs well under good lighting conditions but the low light pictures were not up to the mark. There are some lags in the UI once the phone is running too many apps. There is also language support for the UI as Xiaomi claims that it can handle Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali and Marathi.

Here are the basic specifications of the Mi4i:

If you go by the spec sheet, Mi 4 falls under the list of reasonably priced devices. Moreover, the phone is also designed well and feels perfect to hold considering the 5-inch display factor. Although, you might have to compromise on the lack of storage space, 4G LTE support, and some lags in MIUI. The phone operates with two SIM cards which are 4G LTE enabled.

Taking a look at some of the pros and cons of the Mi4i:

Pros:
•  One hand use possible.
•  Powerful battery.
•  Dual standby with 4G support.
Cons:
•  Heating issue.
•  No sd card support.
•  Less number of service centers in India.

Final verdict:
The Mi4i could have had better camera and smoother UI but having said that there is no denying that is a clear winner if compared to any other smartphone that uses the same processor in the same price bracket. The other competitor for this handset are the Yureka plus and Moto G (3rd generation). The yureka being less costly than the Mi4i.
