Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 : Look and Feel.

Micromax has been very busy launching various good looking budget phones. The latest offering by the company is the Canvas Xpress 2, which is priced at just Rs. 5999/-. It has interesting feature such as HD display and heavy-duty camera, which is quite “anokha for a sasta phone” .

The Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 feels solid and is well built, though it has a plastic body. It’s not very heavy as it has a fairly compact design. The phone has matte finish and a metal frame which makes it “sundar and acha”. The phone is powered by a octa-core processor and has 1 GB RAM. Everyday apps and task such as social networking, web browsing and other stuff are handled quite well by the device. However, it isn’t suited for multitasking as the phone starts to lag after 5 apps or more. This phone is meant for basic use.

Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 comes with a 5-inch HD screen, which looks sharp and holds well in bright light. It is also resistant to smudges, courtesy the oleophobic coating which is used in the Moto E as well. The phone comes with a high-quality 13-megapixel camera. The picture quality is sharp, the colours look accurate and rich, and the detail it can pull out is impressive, especially when you use it on a bright sunny day. It is fast but takes time to get the focus right, and one has to tap on the subject multiple times.  The results from the front camera are a bit shoddy; it is good only for individual selfies.

The 1 GB RAM is olny good for basic use and not multitasking, forget about playing highend game.
Camera
13 MP back and 2Mp front
The Front camera takes better images, however the low light performance is very poor. The front camera is good only for one person selfie.
Battery
2500 mAh
The battery life is good, and lasts around a day.
Connectivity
Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot, Bluetooth.
Tone thing that could have been incorporated is 4G LTE support.

The Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 doesn’t have the support of the latest android, i.e. Android Lollipop. The latest offerings of Micromax have Android Lollipop, but why has it been compromised on the Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 is a question “jiska jawab nahi hai abhi tak”. Lets have a look at the pros and cons of the Micromax Canvas Xpress 2:

    Pros:
5-inch HD IPS Display
Primary Camera Shoots Good Picture.
Good battery backup
Design & build quality is good with jet black finish and a gold rim.
    Cons:
Lacks 4G LTE Support
Average Selfies with front camera
Outdated pre-installed Android OS
Standard UI

Final verdict:
A superior camera and sharp display give it an edge over the Moto E 3G (Rs.5,999), and the design and steady performance are better than the Redmi 2 (also Rs.5,999). The old Android is a bit of a letdown, though.
