The Indian Market has been flooded with budgeted smartphone
and Honor has decided to make a dent in the crowded mid-range segment. Honor
has introduced its Honor 4X to gain of the ever increasing smartphone demand. Let’s
find out whether it would indeed come out as a star performer.
Honor 4X: Unique Back Texture. |
Just like other budget smartphones the Honor 4X makes use of plastic to cut the cost down. In terms of looks it’s not “Sabse bawal” in the segment but it is clearly one of the bests. In order to make it stand out from others, Huawei has provided a removable back cover with a unique texture that helps in providing great grip for the phone. The Honor 4X looks like any typical 5.5-inch phone, one advantage that the speakers are at the bottom which provides clear and great audio.
One disappointment of the Honor 4X is that still runs on the
“Purana” Android 4.4 Kitkat. It has Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.0 on top of it. It strips
your Android app drawer and lays everything out in the open. The UI isn’t still
at it’s best, with slight improvements it surely will become as good as the
Xiaomi MIUI. However, its fast and easy to use. The Honor 4X sports a 5.5 inch
HD display but the sharpness is missing, it has good viewing angles, color
accuracy and brightness.
Honor 4X: Lollipop Design Soft Buttons. |
The Honor 4X has a 64 bit processor which is clocked at 1.2
GHz, it is strong and powerfull and works without any lags. The Honor 4X’s
13-megapixel camera is “theek thaak”, especially when there’s plenty of light
available. Take the phone indoors with limited lighting, then the Honor 4X
starts to struggle. Photos taken indoors with artificial light aren’t as
sharply focused, though the photos taken by the camera are still quite
satisfactory.

Let’s take a look at some of the basic specification of the
phone:

|
If there’s one thing we really like about the Honor 4X is
its very long battery life. Calls, texts, a bit of gaming and videos thrown in,
it lasts for one and a half day without trouble. Speaking of which, lets look
at some for the Pros and Cons of the Honor 4X:
Pros:
•Powerful battery
•Quad-code processor with 2GB RAM
•Good specifications within budget range
•4G LTE network support
•Good viewing angles
|
Cons:
•Large screen which is difficult to fit in pocket
•Only 3.7 GB usable memory
•No Gorilla screen
|
Final verdict:
At Rs. 9999/- Huawei’s Honor 4X may be
the fastest of the phones currently out in the market today, but raw processing
power isn’t the only measure of a good phone. The Honor 4X has a good mix of performance
and battery endurance in a relatively affordable package. If you need a device
with a branded logo on the back, small screen and different UI(particularly),
you can turn this out and look for some other handsets, such as the Xiaomi Note
4g or the YU Yureka Plus.
